I want you to know... You Are Not Alone
Leah laughing

Leah Carey is a real-life storyteller.

Whether she’s telling other people’s stories in her work as a journalist, or she’s helping other people tell their own stories in writing and onstage, she is dedicated to helping us understand ourselves and each other through telling the stories of everyday life.

Too often we bypass those stories, believing they are unimportant. But they are, in fact, the building blocks of what makes each of us who we are: different, but never alone.

Far from being born a natural optimist, Leah has spent time in the trenches. For over two decades she struggled with chronic depression, believing that no matter how hard she worked or how much she accomplished, she was never good enough and no one could ever understand.

She now shares with others the answer that saved her life: sharing our stories helps us to release shame, build community, and increase effectiveness and resilience.

She has been published in books, magazines, medical journals, and on many internet sites on a variety of self-empowerment and personal development topics. She also speaks frequently at groups and conferences on similar subjects. She is the author of two books, You Are Not Alone : Stories from the front lines of womanhood and Transforming Your Body Image : A journey to loving your body.

Leah lives in northern New Hampshire with her parakeets, Cinnamon and Nutmeg, and about a bazillion of her favorite books.
