The Miracle Manifesto

~~~~~~~
THE MIRACLE MANIFESTO
from Leah Carey, Chief Miracle Officer
~~~~~~~

To you…
the dear, precious soul who is living in gray and dreaming of color…

I know you.

You live with the feeling that there’s something wrong inside you that needs to be fixed.

I see you.

You’ve read the self-help books with stories of clients who’ve had magical healings using their patented XYZ system, and you think, “Will that ever happen for me?”

I hear you.

You’ve taken the inspirational classes. You walk out feeling like you can conquer the world and you’ll never, ever feel bad again…but the high only lasts until you re-enter your “real life.” Then the old feelings creep back in and you wonder, “What’s wrong with me?”

I understand how you feel.

And because you’re not having the instantaneous healings and living on the inspirational high all the time, you feel like the problem must be you. Like you are the failure for not getting it. For not working hard enough. For not living up to your potential. For not being the person you know in your heart you could be…if only you could throw off this cloak of gray.

I’ve been where you are.

Perhaps you feel compelled to share inspirational sayings with your friends on Facebook, telling yourself that you’re spreading joy, but in your deepest places, you know that you’re doing it to convince your friends that you’re living in color.

I’ve done this.

Perhaps you think that to get the complete healing you crave, you’ll have to become a monk – eliminate all television/sugar/coffee/alcohol/sex from your system. You’ll need to meditate for two hours a day, do a hardcore exercise program, and eat a completely organic meal, preferably one that you grew with your own hands.

I’ve lived these beliefs.

For many years, I lived in the blackness of depression.

And then I emerged into a world of gray. It was so much better than black that I thought perhaps this was as good as it gets. But I was still taking every class and reading every book, praying that someone would show me the way to color.

While I waited for the silver bullet…the magic pill…the answer that would turn my life to color…

I dug deep inside myself, searching out all the places where things were wrong – wrong ideas, destructive beliefs, bad behaviors. I searched them out and I dealt with them, one by one. But color still didn’t appear.

I was functioning. But I was still struggling. Still waiting for something to change.

And then I made a single remarkable discovery.

In a moment of clarity, I took a step away from the constant fixation on what was wrong in me that needed to be fixed, and I started looking at my life through the lens of:

“What’s going right here?”

world of colorAnd the more I looked, the more I found. My life was filled with things that were already going right.

And that, my friend, was the discovery that transformed my world from gray to color. All it took was paying as much attention to what was going right as what seemed wrong.

That’s it.

No digging.

No monkhood.

No growing my own organic food.

Just. Color.

There is no silver bullet.
There are just tiny little steps taken every day.

Because tiny steps make big change.

I still have hard days. I still get scared/angry/sad sometimes – but the feelings don’t drain the color. They don’t drag me back into gray because what is right is so much bigger than what seems wrong.

I trust myself to feel the feelings and emerge again on the other side.

And you can too.

It doesn’t have to be hard. It doesn’t have to be scary. It can be fun.

And you can do it. Starting from exactly where you are.

All it takes is the willingness to take a tiny little step each day.
And the desire to feel a little more colorful today than you did yesterday.

I believe in you. I will stand with you. I will hold the vision of your greatness.
Because I know that there is so much that is right about you.

It’s time.
The world of color is waiting … for YOU!

    Always appreciate your brain and your perspective. Taking time each morning to write down 10 things I’m thankful for has really shown me how great life is. Also nice to read back over it weeks/months later to remember how certain things made life good at that time. You Rock!
