The miracle of a loving ending

In April 2010, I attended a “Movers & Shakers” conference in Boston for up-and-coming authors and speakers put on by Hay House Publishing and facilitated by the incomparable Cheryl Richardson (best-selling author) and Reid Tracy (CEO).  It was a lightning-fast immersion in all the things Hay House and what we needed to know in order to swim in the big pond with the big fish.

I came out of that weekend with tons of new ideas and exciting inspirations.  But those wouldn’t have meant a thing without the most important thing I left that weekend with – a group of new brothers and sisters who share a vision of helping to heal the world.

Seven of us formed a group to help ourselves take all that information and inspiration and turn it into action.  We each have different areas of expertise and very different goals about how to bring it to the world, but what makes this group special is that we all believe in each other.  We have taken the time to listen deeply to each other and then be really honest – with loving compassion – because we know that’s the best way to support each other in the type of personal and professional growth that we each desire.

Partially as a result of the group, and mostly as a result of our own inner drive and passion for what we do, each of us has gotten much busier over the last several months.  We decided that today would be our last regularly-scheduled phone call.  I’m so proud of us – both for the effortless way in which the group formed, and then in the loving and honoring way that we brought it to conclusion.

Endings can be really hard, especially for me. I have had a tendency to hold on to things for much longer than is good for me because I don’t like endings and transition. I see people create anger and drama to propel to cover up the sadness and hurt of an ending. It makes me so grateful that in this group we did neither – we acknowledged that the time had come, we acknowledged our love for each other, and we brought the group to closure.

These are lifelong friends and I know that our relationships don’t end here. In fact, our group doesn’t end here – it simply transforms into new modes of communication and support.

To Michael Chase, Jeffrey Sumber, Michelle Phillips, Kate Northrup, Laura Garnett, and John Brailsford, I am infinitely grateful to have you in my life.  You are very much a part of my daily miracle. Thank you. I love you all.  And I’ll talk to you soon.  🙂
