This miracle came in from my good friend Tamar Smookler, who is a massage therapist and owner of Inner Truth Massage. She is a huge fan of the Young Living Essential Oils, which is what she’s referring to in this miracle. Do you have a miracle to share? Click “Share your miracle” above and send it in!

Last night, while preparing to teach a class on essential oils at my massage studio, I decided to make some lemon bars to share with the group. I was reading about all of the many benefits of lemon essential oil, including immune support, boosting the metabolism, and of all things, reducing cellulite! Wow, could there be a better ingredient to add to a tasty dessert?!
So I started baking away. I found a good-looking recipe for lemon bars that included therapeutic-grade essential oil of lemon, plus some zest. What a great aroma. Music was on, a little wine was flowing, and I was having a lovely time of it.
The recipe calls for baking the lower crust first at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, then pouring in the lemony filling and baking some more. I pulled the baked crust out, poured in the filling, opened up the oven, and (without thinking!) picked up the 350 degree fiestaware baking dish with my bare hands. “Oh *&$%#@!” is what would have come out if I weren’t in too much pain to speak. Luckily I didn’t drop the pan. I gently set it back down without dropping the precious lemon filling all over the floor. Phew. Then… I cursed really loudly and downed some more wine. Looking down at my hands in disbelief, I could see a HUGE blister forming from the top of my index finger down to the middle of my left palm. Oh boy. It was already going through my head… This is bad, I’m probably going to have to cancel all of my massage clients for the week. Can’t do massage with a blistered hand. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Then I remembered the lavender essential oil in the kitchen cabinet. I had put it there last week when I had the bright idea of making lavender cookies (which I wouldn’t recommend to anyone by the way). I remembered that lavender is supposed to be a good remedy for burns. Aaah, saved! I quickly put several drops on my hand. In amazement, I watched over the course of a few minutes the blister literally disappearing before my eyes. It truly healed. This morning I have nothing to show for it except a tiny little painless white blister on the tip of my finger. I’ve done worse raking the yard.
Thank heavens the lavender oil was there when I needed it. You bet there will be a bottle next to my stove at all times from now on. Right next to the wine.

I attended the essential oils workshop (which btw was wonderful).
After trying the ‘lavender’ cookies, I suggested that although the taste kind of ‘grew’ on you, using the lemon oil would probably be delish! So, I kinda feel bad in a way….would the lemon bars have been tried anyway? Probably, yes! In any case, experience = learning……and THAT experience brought about an awesome knowledge of lavender oil….which I will be getting in my next order. (Oh, and I think orange cookies or bars using the orange essential oil would also be yummy)…just saying…
