The miracle of getting to the end of the day

It’s been a hell of a day.  I woke up suddenly to the sound of thunder cracking this morning, and the rest of the day felt just as unexpected and jarring. This morning was filled with small and large fires that needed to my attention. This afternoon I was pulled in several different directions and I didn’t handle it as gracefully as I’d have liked. Then I came home and I was so hungry that I couldn’t figure out what to eat, so I had french fries and popcorn.  Sheesh.

Now it’s 9:15 and I can finally wind down. I am grateful that I have a bathtub, a good book to read, a comfortable bed to lie in, and a movie to watch.  I don’t know which combination of those things I’ll indulge in. But right now I’m so physically and emotionally exhausted that being able to do any of them feels like a miracle.  Thank goodness!
