Show Me The Money!

As I’ve mentioned, I’m planning to address my finances in the 30-Day Miracle Challenge.  Today I had an opportunity to step up to the plate and make that commitment in an even more concrete way.

Today I received a check that I knew was probably in error.  I also knew that if I didn’t say anything, it was unlikely that anyone would notice.

I had two options – keep the money and tell myself that it was a gift from the Universe showing me that more abundance was coming my way, or return the check and stand in trust that if I gave back what was not mine, what is mine will show up.

What to do?  I’d like to tell you that the answer was immediately clear, but the truth is that I had to sit with myself for a while before I got really comfortable with my next step.

I chose to acknowledge the error.  Why?  Because I knew that if I kept the money, I’d feel squirrely about it.  I’d be looking over my shoulder wondering if someone might discover the mistake at some point and come to me asking for the money back.  On the other hand, standing in integrity and doing what I know is right is my first solid declaration to the Universe that I no longer wish to have any slipperiness in my dealings with money.

Today I took a stand for integrity.  I’ve heard it described as “doing what is right even when no one is watching.”  And it felt good!

The matter wasn’t resolved today and I don’t know what will happen next.  Perhaps they’ll tell me to keep the money (wouldn’t that be nice!? 🙂 )  If they do that, I can accept it with a clean heart, knowing that the error was in my calculations, not in my values.  Perhaps they’ll ask me to return the check.  Either way, I’ve done my part to open myself to more miracles with money because I’m not holding fear and stress in my heart.

Tomorrow is Declaration of Independence Day for the 30-Day Miracle Challenge!  Have you decided what issue you will be working with?  I’ll put up the first 30-Day Challenge post tomorrow morning where you can make your declaration.  I’m so excited to see what you’re working on and to watching all of us grow over the next month!
