A fulfilling career

Back at the beginning of June, I came to the realization that before I could find my soul mate – my spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and sexual life partner – I first had to be my own soul mate.  I had to bring those energies into my own life rather than waiting for someone else to do it for me.

Today I had the rather profound realization that the same is true in my professional life.  I have spent the last many years doing work to get a paycheck, always pining for the day when I would be able to leave that behind and teach, write and speak for a living.  Today’s realization is that I can’t keep waiting for the fulfillment and joy that I believe will happen when I’m doing those things full time.  First I have to find those qualities of fulfillment and joy in the work THAT I’M DOING TODAY!!!  That will open the space for increasingly fulfilling and joyful work to come into my world.

It’s something I’ve heard talked about any number of times before, but today I really got it on a deeper level.  I’m grateful!
