As the clock struck midnight on Dec. 31, 2010, I had absolutely no inkling that I was just 13 hours away from beginning The Miracle Journal. True story.
In fact, I had no inkling of most of the things that turned out to be amazing about this year.
I had no idea that I would end up working (almost) full time at a newspaper, writing a weekly column and in charge of the special sections.
I had no idea that I would unearth some well-hidden and destructive beliefs about men, and then discover that I was surrounded by amazing men.
I had no idea that I would lose a friend in a brutal and devastating way, and yet feel no anger at the man who took her life.
I had no idea that after years of whining and crying about my financial situation, I would finally take serious steps to get it under control and would, for the first time, feel like I am in charge of my money instead of it being in charge of me.
I had no idea that I would meet a man who lived in the desert and that I would give him my heart. I had no idea that he would hold it so tenderly and lovingly for a while. I had no idea that, after five glorious months, he would give my heart back to me so that I can feed it, care for it, and heal it. I had no idea that for the first time in my life I would truly allow myself to love.
I had no idea that I would meet so many amazing readers and that I would reconnect with so many wonderful old friends through these pages.
I had no idea. I am so grateful.
Perhaps it’s a good sign that I have no idea what 2012 will bring. Being an empty slate worked pretty well for me this year! There are lots of possibilities in the wind and I’m excited to see what happens next.
Here is my message to 2012:
Bring. It. On.
I hope that you, dear reader, will continue coming back and sharing your miracles here as we move into the next miraculous year together!
Be safe tonight and know that you are loved.
