The 10-pound challenge

Over at Newlyweds On A Budget, Erika has introduced the 10 Pound Challenge, which involves losing 10 pounds in 12 weeks.  When I first read that I thought…I’m in up to my eyeballs!  I’m running as fast as I can just to fall behind lately!  I can’t possibly add another thing to my plate!

Then I took a breath and let my non-hysterical voice take over. That voice reminded me that the first thing that goes out the window when I’m overwhelmed (not to mention when I’m grieving) is healthy eating and exercise. Plus, I’ve put on some weight over the last couple of years that I’d like to take off.

This is the most important time for me to focus on self-care and this is a great way to do it – with the support of an entire community of bloggers!

So with a bit of fear and trembling, I’m in.  I’m not exactly sure where in my life it will go, but I DO know that stating the intention publicly makes it vastly more likely that I’ll keep the commitment.

So here we go – chicken, fish, rice, vegetables, and fruit.  All foods that I love!  I don’t think I want to give up chocolate entirely, but just giving up the wheat and sugary products I’ve been eating recently will be a great thing for me.

Anyone else want to join?  There are cash prizes, by the way.  🙂  If so, click here to declare your commitment.

Being a loser feels good. I lost 23 lbs on Weight Watchers online program last year. I’ve gained back 3 lbs of this. I want to continue to try and get rid of the 3 + another 10.
Smaller portions, lots of healthy foods.
Don’t deny yourself a small piece of a chocolate treat at least once a week.
There are plenty of healthy sweet treats besides fruit. One of my favorites is faux cheesecake. 4 nilla wafers crumbled into a small bowl topped with sugar-free cheesecake pudding (or a flavor you like) topped with fresh raspberries (or other berries you like) and a dollop of fat-free non-dairy topping.
I must say that you always look great. You go Leah! You can do it!
Big hugs and hope you’re a big loser 🙂
