Review – Luv My Box

**Warning – this post acknowledges the existence of sex and sex toys.  If that makes you uncomfortable, you might find this post more to your liking!**

Recently I was offered the opportunity to review a product called “Luv My Box” – it’s a monthly service that sends a box each month filled with “discreet” items (think “Book of the Month Club” for the liberated generation!)

The website promises that each month you’ll receive a selection of naughty items in a plain box. You have the option to sign up for a single month or a three month subscription, with the promise of longer subscriptions to come soon. The monthly subscription cost is $34.95.

First, the shipping was super speedy. It came so quickly that, even though I was expecting it, I had no idea what it was when it showed up. They also definitely live up to their promise to be discreet. Again – I had no idea what it was until I opened it up.

The “Luv My Box” box

Inside I found an attractively-packaged box that included:

  • a card explaining the various items in the box;
  • a silk tie
  • a blindfold
  • a feather and
  • a bottle of Sliquid.
I think the whole idea is very clever – having new things to explore together each month definitely adds spice to a relationship; never knowing what to expect in next month’s box would add an extra dose of excitement.  I also think that the packaging is clever, particularly the explanatory card that is light-hearted and informative at the same time.

The only down-side is the price. While their website states that this month’s box would cost $42.88 if each of the items were purchased separately, I probably would have been disappointed if I’d paid the full purchase price. Especially since you can get a feather and a sleep mask very similar to what they sent at WalMart or the dollar store for a couple bucks.  At $34.95, I’d probably choose to pick my own “gifts” at a site or store that specializes in such items.  However, my guess is that when the new company builds enough of a following to start getting good bulk discounts to purchase products, they’ll be able to afford filling the box with more substantial items.

All in all, great idea, especially if you’re looking for a way to spice up your sex life.  I don’t think the price point matches the items yet, but that may change as LuvMyBox gains a larger audience.

FTC Disclosure: I received this product for free from LuvMyBox.com for this review. The opinion in this review is unbiased and reflects my honest judgment of the product.
