I’ve mentioned a few times recently the class that I’ve been taking around clarifying and strengthening my message. There’s a ton of work going on behind the scenes as a result of this class, and I look forward to sharing it with you soon.
In the meantime, I want to introduce you to a couple of women who have been rocking my world during this class. It’s being conducted entirely by phone and on Facebook, and there are over 100 women participating. The leader, KC Baker, encouraged us to buddy up with a classmate or two. Because so much of what we’ve been doing involves words – both written and spoken – it’s really helpful to have other people to bounce ideas off and get feedback.
Right away I sought out two women whose work and presence intrigued me. I scored BIG time on both counts!
First is Catherine Chen. She calls herself a “health coach for busy professionals who want a life.” I call her an achievement coach for people who try to achieve TOO MUCH.
I knew that I liked her the first moment that I encountered her first video. But she had me hook, line, and sinker with this powerful nugget of wisdom:
“I believe that you are important, no matter how much you achieve.”
That is a message that my soul has needed to hear for so long. I just spent over an hour on the phone with Catherine – we’re supporting each other in our next big piece of writing – and I’m feeling so inspired after talking to her!
(You can find Catherine online at http://catherinechenwellness.com. She also just had an article published on The Huffington Post called “What Performing With a Belly Dancing Troupe Taught Me About Life.” Check it out here.)
The other woman who positively blows my socks off (which is ironic, given that she used to be a sock maker) is Tova Gold. But I like what she calls herself on Facebook – “Tova Muchness Gold”.
Tova’s story is a powerful one – it’s all about how she lost her “muchness,” and then after a great personal tragedy, she found a way to rediscover her “muchness.”
Oh heck yeah!!!!
But even better…all of her website photos are of her in a teal-colored tutu falling into a bathtub. To say I fell in love in a moment is not an understatement. 🙂
(You can find Tova online at http://findingmymuchness.com. She’s doing a big presentation at a bridal show this weekend, helping brides to not lose their Muchness while they’re planning their wedding. Isn’t that cool?!?)
The more Tova and I talk, the more I realize that she and I are really saying exactly the same thing, just in different words. A few nights ago when we were on the phone, she joked that she was so convinced by my message that she thought she should stop talking about “muchness” and start talking about “miracles.” The funny thing is that every time I hear her speak, I think I should stop talking about “miracles” and start talking about “muchness!”
And that’s part of what this class is teaching me so powerfully – regardless of how many teachers are out there teaching the same thing, we’re all saying it in different ways. We each have our own personal spin on it, our own backgrounds, and our own stories. Each of us is necessary.
These are only two of the incredible women I’ve met – I may introduce you to some more at some point.
Tonight I just needed to take a moment and say thank you to Catherine and Tova. Ladies, thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for pushing me to dig deeper and find more. Thank you for trusting me to do the same for you. I am incredibly grateful to you both.
You really do completely and utterly Rock. My. World.
Today’s miracle: Finding connection and support with people I’ve never met in person, but who I feel so close to nevertheless.
