WHITEFIELD – Writer Leah Carey’s story-gathering residency at The Morrison inWhitefield concludes on Wednesday, July 28, with a reading at 2 PM that will paint a picture of life at the nursing home and assisted living facility from the perspective of residents, staff, and family. Members of the public, including staff from other health-care facilities, are welcome to attend and then stay for a “talk- back” following the performance, when they can ask questions and learn about the process used to gather stories from individuals and groups.
Carey, of Littleton, is one of four artists in residence at The Morrison this summer and early fall, presenting workshops and performances through an Arts & Health program that is a partnership of the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire and The Morrison. The program has been made possible in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts’ Arts and Health program and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Other artists in the series include Irish harper Regina Delaney, who has already spent three days at The Morrison and will return Aug. 11 and 12 for additional workshops, visits with residents and public performances; Saori weaver Bobbi Herron, who will bring standing and lap looms for her residency Aug. 17-20, and, with residents and staff, create permanent installation for the nursing home and dancer Jeanne Limmer, who will spend four days in September leading residents in simple movement exercises and working with staff to integrate movement in daily care routines.
