The thank-you note and change-of-address card

I have had a love-hate relationship with thank you notes for most of my life – I loved the idea of them, but hated writing them.  I remember the trials and tribulations that went with thank-you card writing after my Bat Mitzvah.  There’s very little that a 12-year-old girl would rather do LESS than sit …

A love letter to my mom

Every once in a while my mom will pick up the phone to find me on the other end saying, “I owe you an apology.”

Her response is usually a stammering, “Oh….uh….okay……..?”

One such conversation happened a couple years ago – it was in the early days of The Miracle Journal, and things were opening …

How not winning is a win

A few weeks ago, I talked about a six-week class that I had decided to take with KC Baker, who helps “Unleash the brilliance of women’s voices.”  The course started two weeks ago and so far it has been A-MA-ZING.  I have met some incredible women and the community that we are creating is really …

Thanksgiving miracles

As I mentioned last night, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  Of course I like to find things to be grateful for each day (hence I write on The Miracle Journal!) but it’s also nice to have an entire day to really focus on what’s best in life.

So tonight I’m thinking about the things in …

What is absolutely, positively true

Today I got to listen to coverage of the ongoing troubles in Vermont in the wake of Hurricane Irene.  What strikes me is the resilience of people who have been hit so hard, and the way that they have created a new sense of community.

In one town the only bridge was taken out by …
