My name is Leah and I’m a classaholic

It’s time to come clean.  I need to unburden my soul.  I’ve had an intervention with myself and here’s the cold, hard truth:

I’m a class-aholic.

Yes, it’s true.  In the past three months, I’ve registered for five classes.  FIVE.  All business/professional development classes.  All running at roughly the same time.  And all getting ready …

Playing teacher

I volunteer to read with an elementary school-age child once a week. This year I’m paired with an absolutely marvelous child (I’ll call her Clara).  Due to privacy issues I can’t tell you anything about her, but I can tell you the revelation I had today while sitting with her.

Clara is a good reader …

Small gems

Long day.  Tired Leah.

I don’t have cable or NetFlix (never had cable, gave up NetFlix during the great cost cutting). I only watch the things that I can see online – which is a lot, but certainly not everything I’d like to see.  For instance, the first episode of HBO’s series “Newsroom” is available …

Race to the Finish

This weekend was for the dogs.  The sled dogs!  Yesterday I had a chance to go to the East Burke Sled Dog Dash in East Burke, Vt., to watch some sled dog action.  I was excited to see it unfold, and I gotta tell you – it was even cooler than I’d imagined it to …

Reading for pleasure

Chick Lit

On Friday night I mentioned going to the library to get some mindless books.  I’ve already finished two and a half of them. It’s been wonderful to escape into someone else’s story for a little while. And it’s been SO long since I’ve read something purely for the fun of it.

I have a friend …

A new book

One of the things that Mr. Blue Eyes and I do together is read books and discuss them.  Can I tell you what a joy that is for me?  I’ve always wanted to be able to do that with a partner.

This week we’re starting a new book that we’re both excited about – Undefended …

Living Today For Evie – a repost

Earlier today a friend sent me this post that was written by Angie Miller, one of Evie Spodnik’s colleagues.  It captures her spirit so perfectly that I feel compelled to quote her here.  You can find the original post at: http://nhtoy2011.blogspot.com/2011/07/living-today-for-evie.html

There was a gathering tonight of Evie’s Sacred Circle Dance community and people traveled …
